[sigh] I just created a post and then tried to publish it only to discover that i had lost the internet connection for some reason. so, everything that i typed disappeared.

here's the short version - doug's home. i'm happy. he's tired, but happy. the baby and i are fine. next doctor's appointment is on friday.

I'll write more tomorrow and hopefully the computer won't eat it then.

Well, I spent most of last week sad and anxious because of Doug's impending business trip. Now he's gone to Taiwan (left on saturday will be back this coming saturday) and I'm doing alright. I'm sad at the moment, but overall I'm doing much better than I did when he left last year. Thankfully, he's only gone one week this time and he'll be in one place the whole time he's gone. :)

As for Baby P, all's well. There's really not much going on right now. Well, actually there's a whole lot going on inside, but nothing I can see or feel. This is crazy though - did you know that at this point (15 weeks), if I shine a flashlight at my abdomen the baby will move away from the light. What I want to know is who the heck goes around shining a flashlight at their pregnant belly?

14.2.05

I forgot to tell you - Doug's laptop showed up later that morning. Apparently someone else did grab it, thinking it was their own. Whew!
Well, this time it's been a while since I posted because I just flat out forgot about my blog for a while. Since I've been feeling better, I've also been doing more. Being more busy means that I tend to forget about other things. Only so much room in my brain, apparently. Especially since I have a baby stealing my brain cells!

Anyway, I'm officially in my second trimester now and continuing to feel better and better. I have have recently developed a little tiny tummy pop. I think I'm the only person who can tell though. Other than that, there's not much to report.

Happy Valentine's Day to all who are reading this on Monday! Doug is planning some sort of romantic evening at home tonight. All I really know is that he's cooking and I have presents. I'll keep you updated (if appropriate)... :)

Doug's laptop just got stolen at work! He went to the restroom, set it down, went into a stall and did his business, and when he came back out it was gone! Crazy! There is really very little he can do without a computer. Hopefully it was just someone who picked his up thinking it was theirs or some kind of innocent mistake like that and it will be cleared up soon. He needs his computer to work!

When I talked to him a little while ago, he was planning to go ahead and go work out and see if it turns up during that hour. If he comes back and still no computer... I don't know what he'll do. Maybe he'll have to come home. That would break *my* heart! If he still feels like he needs to work, he could do laundry with me. :o)~

Ooh, I just offended Cordelia by not letting her jump up into my lap. Alas.

Nothing terribly exciting to report today. Things are still getting better. I did have a really bad day on Friday, but that could have been a bug of some kind. Things are great today. Our baby is now the size of a jumbo shrimp. (where do they come up with these things??) I find that comparison a little disturbing because I find shrimp disturbing. But if it helps you, then go with it. :) In case you were wondering, it is safe for a pregnant woman to eat two servings of shrimp per week. That's assuming that you are not allergic to shrimp. This matters very little to me as I wouldn't eat shrimp even if I weren't allergic to them!

Doug and I began the process of registering for baby stuff this weekend. We are taking this in veeery small steps so that we don't lose our minds like we did registering for our wedding!

Well, I had my second appointment with the doctor yesterday. Everything seems to be fine. She was properly disturbed by my bloody eye and advised that I not throw up anymore. I told her I'd work on that.

We got to hear the heartbeat, which was very cool. Of course. I got spoiled with getting to actually see the baby with my first visit and the follow-up ultrasound. I won't get to see it again though for a couple of months.

I also discovered that I've actually lost 4 pounds in the past five weeks. I'm not sure how since I've been eating every two hours and only working out about once a week! Plus, the only changes I've seen in my body are enlargements and thickening. Oh well, I'll be gaining plenty of weight soon enough!

31.1.05

Hey everyone! I know it's been a while since I've posted. Just haven't felt like I had anything to say. Well, I'm 12 weeks pregnant now and starting to feel better. It's been almost two weeks since I've thrown up, which is definitely cause for celebration. The blood from the burst vessel is almost gone. The baby is now the size of a lime. I have my next appointment with the doctor tomorrow.

On the non-pregnancy front, I saw the movie Hotel Rwanda last night. It was... rough. Worth seeing and I feel like I understand some things better. But still, hard to watch. That one will stick with me for a while, and I think I'm glad of it.

This is amusing. Doug found out that his car inspection expired in July of last year! He didn't even notice himself - a coworker pointed it out. Silly boy! :)

1. I burst a blood vessel in my right eye by *throwing up* yesterday. It looks gross.

2. Throwing up red grapes is disgusting!

3. I have now thrown up two days in a row for the first time.

4. I do not enjoy throwing up. I get these little red dots on my lower eyelids that are weird.

5. I spend way too much of my time thinking about whether or not I'm going to throw up.

6. I am sick of daytime TV. It would be worse if we didn't have cable.

7. Our sofa is developing a permanent impression of my body because I spend so much time there.

Thank you for listening.

Things here fine today. After my really good day last week, I had a really bad day. Things have been "not bad" since then. :)

The baby is about the size of a walnut now. That doesn't mean much to me really, but I think it's just over an inch from crown to rump. It's also growing tiny fingernails and toenails and can kick and swallow. I won't feel the kicking for quite some time yet, but I'm glad it's getting exercise in there!

I'm finally starting to figure out a new routine, which will be wonderful for my mental well-being. I thrive on routine. I'm working out in the mornings on the days that I feel like it. On the days that I don't, I'll be doing prenatal yoga at home in the afternoons. I've figured out a new good time to spend with God every day too.

12.1.05

I am having a great day so far today! I woke up feeling pretty much normal, which hasn't happened in quite a while. I even went and worked out and ran a few errands on the way home! I have felt gaggy a couple of times, but nothing major. I'm going to take a nap in a few minutes to make sure I don't run out of energy and then I think I might actually get to CLEAN HOUSE!!!!! [gasp]

For reasons known only to himself, Charlie decided we needed to wake up at 4:45 this morning. He was being so naughty! Scratching things and chewing on things. He was on the verge of being locked out of the room when I fell back asleep. I really don't know if he calmed down or I just slept through his wake-up efforts. After Doug got up at the normal time and I was still in bed, he decided that an apporpriate way to wake me up would be to make mad runs around the room (if you don't own a cat, let me explain - a single cat can sound like a herd of cattle when it wants to and Charlie also growls while running) and *across the bed*! That did get him locked out! Goober head.

11.1.05

Not much to say about me. I haven't thrown up again, but I think it's only a matter of time. I have had to run for the bathroom twice today, but nothing came of it. It's so odd because it's not even that I'm feeling nauseated. It's all in my throat. I just feel like gagging, but I'm trying not to because gagging can lead to puking, etc. Not fun times.

While I'm talking about gross things... Cow Kitty (we think) gave us our first "present" yesterday. And he started large. As in, he left a dead possum in our back yard. Such a thoughtful gift. At least we know he likes us. And he's let me get closer to him than ever since then. I actually got within 2 feet of him today! Maybe I will get to pet him someday. :)

10.1.05

I threw up for the first time today. It had been *years* since I'd thrown up. I had forgotten what a violent experience it is. Yuck.

9.1.05

Naughty naughty naughty kitty. Doug and I left the house today to run up to the church for a little while. We, naturally, set the alarm before we left. When we got to the church we ran into a good friend of ours who happened to be loitering in the lobby (why we were all there would involve several short stories). He told us that our alarm had gone off and the police were on the way to our house. Umm...

They called him because he's the backup number on our alarm policy. They'd tried us at home and on our cell phone, but didn't get us because we weren't home and never take our cell phone with us anywhere. Anyway, we turned around and came back home and discovered that the alarm had gone off because Charlie had opened the door to our garage (a new and very naughty trick he's learned). I just hope it scared him!

Okay, I realize this looks like nothing to most of you. I promise that thing in the middle is a baby and the tiny arrow in the top photo is pointing to a little leg. If you can identify other things, good for you! Posted by Hello

I don't have much new to say, but it's been a couple of days so I thought I'd post. I was yucky sick all day on Tuesday and Wednesday. Yesterday I felt a bit better. Today I feel a lot better! I actually worked out (nothing too strenuous), ate a normal lunch, and was able to use my brain for a while to spend some time with God. I hope it lasts!

I had my first pregnancy-related breakdown on Wednesday. I decided that I don't like being pregnant and I don't care what anyone else thinks about that. I told Doug that I didn't feel like I was experiencing a miracle. Rather, I feel like I'm being punished for something evil! While there is still a lot of truth to those things, I am much more objective now that I've had a good cry and I know it will get better. :)

Well, I had another ultrasound today to measure the baby. We once again saw a healthy little blob with a heartbeat. I also found out that I'm 8 weeks pregnant, not 7! That puts my official due date at August 13th. I got a couple of ultrasound picturess that I'll scan and post later. You can't see a whole lot, but they did point out to me the head and little arm and leg buds. :)

I also found out that I have a bicornuate uterus. I looked this up on the internet and it said scarey things, so I don't recommend this. However, I'm going to go with what my doctor said, which was that it's not a big deal. She seemed largely unconcerned. Basically, it means my uterus is kind of heart shaped, which will mean nothing to you unless you know what a uterus is supposed to look like!

Cordelia was a much more challenging subject than Charlie. :) Posted by Hello

For those who didn't see them before, here are a couple of cute pictures of our kitties that I took for Christmas. Posted by Hello
Well, our baby is now the size of a raspberry. Sounds squishy. I don't like raspberries... I like our baby though! :)

I currently have a cat in my lap who is driving me crazy. She insisted on jumping up here and she's all curled up and purring. Sounds cute, I know, but it makes typing kind of difficult. As I type, my sleeve is apparently tickling her ear, so she keeps twitching and flicking it around. I told her that if it's bothering her that much she should just *leave*, but she didn't take my advice.

I went and worked out today for the first time in about three weeks. I just stretched, walked slowly on the eliptical trainer for five minutes, and then stretched again. I want to do 15 minutes a day, but I'm going to have to work up to that. Just the stretching part made me kind of light-headed (perhaps because my head was hanging upside down for 30 seconds at a time?), but I know it's good for us!
